What are Medieval events?
England has a rich history, and the medieval period is one of the most fantasized, appearing in countless stories, on paper, on stage, and on-screen. The term ‘Medieval’ is generally interchangeable with ‘the Dark Ages’ and ‘the Middle Ages’. The distinction is that ‘the Middle Ages’ applies to world history. Whereas the Medieval and Dark ages generally refer to events in Europe. In England, this refers to the time between the fall of the Roman Empire, and the beginning of the Early Modern period, when the Tudors came to rein.
The medieval period has captured the hearts and minds of the UK and is the focus of many events at castles up and down the country. Imagine how magical it would be to see Kings and Queens gracing the castle grounds. All while knights ride horses valiantly into battle, saving damsels in distress or the princess from the dragon. At Medieval events, these magical stories come to life, with the added appeal of good food and drink!
The UK is fantastic at hosting events more generally, and as we enter a less restricted summer in 2021, events will be back in force!
